Marvara - Feel-Good Folk Music (BE, SE, DK)
Marvara performs highly energetic folk music composed by young bagpipe player Marieke Van Ransbeeck. The music reflects Marieke’s experiences and memories from a breath-taking musical journey in the Nordic countries. Marieke (and her bagpipes: Flemish bagpipe, Swedish bagpipe and French musette) is accompanied by 3 musicians who she met during her travels: Danish bass player Frederik Mensink , Danish cittern player Villads Hoffman and Swedish percussionist Mårten Hillbom. She also invited the Belgian accordion player Hilke Bauweraerts to join her international ensemble.
Marvara presents their music through an interactive show that will tease all of your senses. Get ready to experience some powerful slängpolska’s, badass schottisches, sexy slow tunes, devilish polskas and even some pop music influences. This will be the moment of the evening to demonstrate your best dance moves and enjoy some feel-good folk music. Be prepared for Marvara!
MARVARA - High On Life
Ready to dance your socks off?! High On Life is a party tune that Marieke composed and arranged after living in Finland. It’s a tune in honour of Finnish girl power. Marieke was amazed by the energy of some leading ladies in the folk scene. Their creativity and energy on stage inspired her. “High On Life” is a slängpolska, a dance that allows you to completely let loose and freestyle. 💃🕺
Music performed by Marvara:
Marieke Van Ransbeeck (bagpipes)
Hilke Bauweraerts (diatonic accordion)
Mårten Hillbom (percussion)
Villads Hoffmann (cittern)
Frederik Mensink (double bass).

Lyrics:
Gather girl, your feather-flower-snowstorm eyes
drag your coat of kissing cold inside
cause some days sometimes count hours,
we are out of mind
but when it’s distant and it’s calling
it might be right
when it’s distant and still calling
it might be right.
Sometimes we’re a crippled creature
and sometimes worth the fight
sometimes we’re a universe ablaze
sometimes we’re a painful creature
and sometimes all that keeps it bleeding
but when it’s distant and on fire
it’s the worst
when it’s distant and on fire
it’s the worst
when it’s distant and on fire
it’s the worst
when it’s distant and on fire
it’s the worst.
ENG - As a big music fan, I enjoy combining my work with my passion for music. I followed music education for years and played in a band and a string orchestra.I would like to assist you in the making of your video clip, so do not hesitate to contact me :)
